The Global Legal Entity Identifier Foundation (GLEIF) has announced the London Stock Exchange Group (LSEG) as the winner of the Global vLEI Hackathon in the Digital Asset and Financial Infrastructures category. Selected from 110 global submissions, LSEG’s solution shows how the Legal Entity Identifier (LEI) and verifiable LEI (vLEI) can enable automated compliance, real-time auditability, and trusted digital transactions. Clearstream was named runner-up for using the vLEI as a secure login standard for its ClearstreamXact platform, highlighting how digital identity can streamline access and enhance operational efficiency.

Hosted during Chainlink’s SmartCon in New York, the Hackathon demonstrated how verifiable digital identity will underpin the future of financial infrastructure. The vLEI allows organizations to prove identity and authority instantly, embedding trust and transparency directly into digital ecosystems and paving the way for a secure, interoperable global digital economy.
