Linking Identifiers to Business Registers and Other Authoritative Sources

GLEIF’s 'linking' initiative aims to streamline counterparty due diligence processes and increase transparency in global transactions by boosting businesses' identifiability and discoverability globally.

Each LEI record contains key reference information registered by local authoritative sources to enable the clear and unique identification of legal entities globally. The 'linking' initiative adds a dedicated URL to the LEI records of entities registered by participating authoritative sources, enabling easy and direct access to each entity’s official registration data and associated documentation on the relevant register's website.

This will significantly streamline Know Your Customer (KYC), Know Your Supplier (KYS) checks, and other due diligence obligations for global data users. It removes the requirement for global data users to initially identify the relevant registration authority, navigate to the correct website, translate it into the local language, and then manually search for an organization using its business registration number.

The following authoritative sources are currently linked:

Kamer van Koophandel (KVK); Netherlands Chamber of Commerce; website
The Netherlands
LEI: 724500A93Z8V1MJK5349

Example of how the linking is incorporated in the webpage with the LEI Reference Data:

Each register contains additional data compared to the LEI reference data, specific to its registry and national legislation. See below for a table describing each linked register and its additional data resources. This includes information on officers, other authorized representatives, ultimate beneficial owners, annual accounts, number of employees and more.

The available data differ per registry and is not always available free of charge.
